What is a leader?

Upon searching the web for a proper definition of the word "leader" I can say none of the definitions given seem more accurate than the example given by our Messiah in the Bible. You've often heard of God saying "I am the first and the last", and it makes perfect sense. However, when Jesus was on earth with His disciples what He said shocked them. "And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, [the same] shall be last of all, and servant of all" (Mark 9:35). John was pretty clear when he told the people that a greater one was coming after him whose sandals John was not even worth of tying. Yet, our savior still taught that a true leader is a servant to those he leads, not a dictator. If He can lead with a servant's heart and He is our God, how easy should it be for us mere men to do it? If we serve our families we will win the hearts of the ones we love which is s much better than having their obedience out of fear. I encourage you to research more on this topic.
